See how your link looks before you share it.

Paste a URL and preview the card Slack, iMessage, Facebook and X will actually show — title, description and image.

We fetch the page server-side to read its preview tags — the same way Slack, iMessage or Twitter/X would.

Why this matters

You only find out it's blank after it's already posted.

A missing preview tag doesn't break the link — it just makes it look wrong the one time it matters, in front of the audience you're trying to reach.

  • No og:title or og:description — most platforms fall back to a generic, unhelpful card
  • No og:image — a link without one renders as plain text on platforms that otherwise show a thumbnail
  • A title or description long enough to get truncated mid-sentence on the platforms that show it
  • Tags that are present but point at an image that fails to load

Tag it before you share it

If this link is going into a campaign, build the UTM-tagged version first with the free UTM builder, then check the result here — the preview tags don't change based on the query string, but it's worth confirming the final URL still resolves correctly.

Fixing a blank card?

A missing preview usually means the page itself has no og:title/og:description/og:image tags — that's a fix on the destination page, not something a short link can patch. A ClickTrail workspace at least confirms the destination stays reachable after you've fixed it.

FAQ

Link preview checker, answered honestly.

If something here doesn't match what the tool does, that's a bug — tell us.

How does this tool see the preview?

It fetches the page server-side and reads its og:/twitter: meta tags — the same way Slack, iMessage or X do the moment you paste a link into them.

Why is my preview image missing?

Either the page has no og:image tag, or the image it points to failed to load. Both are fixed on the destination page itself, not by this tool.

Is the preview shown here exactly what every platform shows?

It's a close approximation. Slack, iMessage, Facebook and X each crop and size the image slightly differently, so treat this as a strong signal, not a pixel-perfect match.

Can it check a private or internal URL?

No — for safety, it only fetches publicly reachable URLs, not internal or private network addresses.
